SJNMA will honor our nation’s veterans with its annual SJNMA Salute to Veterans and Flag Pageant. The community and all our nation’s veterans are invited as the Academy joins with the City of Delafield’s Cushing Elementary School as a way to instill a sense of pride and patriotism in our nation’s youth.
Part 1: Salute to Veterans
The fourth grade class from Cushing Elementary School will perform a Medley of Patriotic American Melodies. Then, SJNMA cadets will honor the Academy’s alumni veterans as well as all Wisconsin veterans. The ceremony will recall the events and sacrifices made by veterans of all wars starting with World War I and ending with the current War on Terror. Guidon bearers for each conflict will be dressed in uniforms identified for each conflict. The segment will conclude with a 21-gun salute and taps in honor of fallen veterans and those who served.
Part 2: All Uniformed Services Flag Pageant
SJNMA cadets will individually parade colors from each of the U.S. Armed Forces during the flag pageant. The SJNMA Band will perform each service’s song while all veterans who served in that service stand to be recognized for their contribution to our nation. Scout Troop #20 from Cushing Elementary School will carry in our national colors followed by the playing of the National Anthem. SJNMA cadet bagpipers will play a closing tune as the flags and guidons exit.
