The Endurance

Date: September 14, 2017 Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Event Description Delafield Public Library welcomes back author Rochelle Pennington and her presentation on the Antarctic voyage of The Endurance, Thursday, September 14 at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers. The library previously hosted Pennington and her presentation on the Edmund Fitzgerald disaster last fall to a delighted audience. Pennington traveled to the countries of England and Scotland to research Sir Ernest Shackleton’s epic 1914 travels aboard the ship Endurance with his crew of 27. The incredible feats achieved during the voyage have inspired generations since. Pennington’s program will detail the extraordinary acts of determination used by the men to move fearlessly forward as they triumphed over the frozen Antarctic expanse where their lives were threatened daily. The presentation also features dozens of authentic documents and stunning photographs taken during the expedition. This program is free and open to the public. Registration is not required, but it is requested. For more information or to register for this program visit the Delafield Public Library at 500 Genesee St., call 262-646-6230, or log onto DelafieldLibrary.org.
